Stationary cupping, created by suction and negative pressure, has been found to soften tight muscles, tone attachments, loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue, hydrate and increase blood flow to body tissues, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. Cupping is a safe and beneficial practice. Cupping marks typically fade after a few days, but may continue to fade for up to 2 weeks, depending on how stagnant the muscles, tissues, and blood flow previously were.
Cupping is very relaxing, and most clients report ease of movement after a session. A movement-based version of cupping can be applied instead, which does not leave red marks and only flushes the skin on the area temporarily, providing many of the same increased blood and lymphatic flow results without the cupping marks.
